Effingham Minis do us proud at Surrey A Festival

16th April 2012

On a cold, but somtimes sunny day at Dorking RFC, the Effingham Minis section did the club proud at the Annual Surrey A Festival.

The U7s were Runners-up in the Cup Final to Rosslyn Park - well done to the boys in their first season of competitive rugby.

Our U8s were Runners-up to Old Reedonians, but have had another strong season and are looking forward to the challenges of contact rugby next season.

The U9s lost in the Plate semi-final to Kings.

Congratulations to our U10s who were joint Surrey A Champions with Farnham RFC.

The U11s were Runners-up in the Plate Final.

The U12s began the day with a fantastic win over a strong London Irish A team (who had not been beaten at a festival since they were U8s). With a tight pool win over Guildford, the Eagles were through to the Cup Quarter-final against Chipstead RFC. Once again the spectator nerves were in shreds as they once again scraped through by a try to nil.

Our luck ran out in the Semi final against Farnham RFC. 7-0 up with seconds to go, Farnham finally managed to breach our line and bring the scores level, and we were eliminated on countback.

A sad end to a fantastic season for the U12s who are looking forward to the wide open spaces in Junior rugby next season.

WELL DONE TO ALL THE PLAYERS AND COACHES WHO REPRESENTED EFFINGHAM & LEATHERHEAD RFC MINIS THIS SEASON

Minis Chairman

2nd April 2012

Many Congratulations to Neill Atkinson, Head Coach of the U7s, who has been elected as the Minis Chairman for season 2012-2013.

We would like to put on record our sincere thanks and appreciation to Duncan McRae, the outgoing Minis Chairman, for his two years in office. He has made an excellent contribution to the Minis Section which, of course, is the cornerstone of Effingham and Leatherhead RFC.
