U16 makes Scottish debut

11th April 2012

James Francis made his U16 Scotland debut today at inside centre against the French at the Wellington International Festival in Berkshire. The Scots enjoyed a bright start against a typically bruising French side and took an early lead however with physicality a key factor, the young Scots sought to keep the ball moving with a high-tempo approach to move the French to the wide channels but the power told as the French came back to secure a 35 v 5 win.

U16's dominate at East of England Festival

2nd April 2012

Half the U16's squad travelled up to Norfolk to take part in the East of England Festival playing teams from Wirral, Syston, Beccehamians, Burntwood, Boston and Thurrock. Over the two day schedule the squad ran out as the overall league winners and then beat an extremely strong Wirral team 10 v 0 in a pulsating final.

The weekend’s victory was built on a mean defence which conceded just one try all weekend. The victory was marred with the loss of James McGachie who suffered a double break of his leg – we all wish him a speedy recovery.
