" Here is a summary of a successful day, winning Reeds festival (for the 2nd year running!):
Players: TomB, ThomasM, Henry, Wynn, Josh, Bastien, Harry, Ben, OliverH, Arthur, Kiyan, Daniel, Miles, Lewys, Darragh.
We were drawn in a tough group with Reeds, Chobham and Sutton & Epsom. We won 2 and drew 1 coming second on tries conceded to Reeds. That meant we played Guildford (who were the winners of the other group) in the semi-final. It was a tough, tight game but the boys played their best rugby with great rucking and good passing, with Miles and Lewys scoring fantastic forward tries to win 14-7. In the final we played Reeds, and things did not start well with Reeds scoring an early try. However, Daniel's perseverance and determination resulted in a very good try, shortly followed by Tom B's dive for the line off the back of a great driving ruck set up by Darragh. Henry's conversion meant we led going into half-time 12-5. The second half was a tight affair, with Lewys being held up short, and after some sustained Reeds' pressure Ben had a great run from near our own line to beyond the half-way line which relieved the pressure, and the whistle blew shortly afterwards for a well-desereved victory.
There were many great performances, but Ben deservedly was awarded Player of the Tournament (not bad after just 2 training sessions) for some good runs and fantastic tackling! A special word for Miles who scored 2 very good tries and rucked very well throughout the day. We won the tournament due to improved rucking, quicker re-cycling, better passing and pressurising the opposition when in defence.
